.) I had selected The Drawings of Michelangelo and Leonardo da Vinci: The Mind of the Renaissance. I selected these two videos because both of their names are familiar to me and I like their artwork.
.) A.) In the Drawings of Michelangelo video I learned a lot about Michelangelo’s work. For starters we all know what an amazing artist he was, but I learned about how he aimed to display perfectionism through his techniques. I found it very interesting that he taught himself how to sculpt and how he became a master, look at his sculpture of David. He mainly focused on human figures. Also I found it interesting how much work went into his sketches of the drawings for the Sistine chapel.
B.) In the Leonardo da Vinci video it taught me a lot about Leonardo da Vinci himself by taking us through his life. Leonardo was a painter, sculptor, architect and engineer. He studies anatomy, physiology, architecture, along with many other ideas of science and art. He was considered the “Renaissance Man” and principles of proportion and balance were extremely important throughout his artwork. He had also worked for the King of France near the end of his career.
.) These videos had related to the text because both Michelangelo and Leonardo were discussed throughout the chapters. For example the Mona Lisa and the statue of David are two of the most famous pieces of art that these artists are responsible for creating.
.) I had liked both of these videos; I like both of these artists and often use their work as examples throughout our assignments. Both videos had added depth to my knowledge about these artists as well.
