1.) The videos I selected were Buddhism and Hinduism. I had selected these two videos because I thought it would be interesting to compare the two religions.
2.) For the Buddhism video I learned a lot about their culture. For starters I learned that it began in India, that Bodh Gaya is a scared place where fact and legend intertwined. I thought the gateway to the temple that was carved with teachings was very interesting because of how much it meant to the people. I has learned that Buddha said that monks can be in the world but may not be on it, that this was the Buddha’s way. Also the golden age where teachings of Buddhism swept all throughout India, and they had a multitude of followers. Also I learned that after Buddha died it ended the golden age. His final teaching was all compounds wear out, walk your own way will diligence. And after a hundred years after his death Buddhism split into two groups. From the Hinduism video I learned that the oldest inhabited city in the world is Varanasi. That it is over a 3000 year old religious story. Also I believed how much the stream/ river of Ganges meant to the Hindu’s that is where death, life, and rebirth happened. I got to watch an Aarti ceremony that literally means removal of pain. These ceremonies are dedicated to the mother of Ganges who helps those who bathe in her waters.
3.) I feel that these videos related to the text because in both videos they touched on the culture and how it influenced their architecture.
4.) I thought that these videos were very interesting. I like how I got to see more visuals of their architecture, and culture further than the book had touched on. I also found it very interesting to compare the two cultures by watching one video after the other.
